Our Community Place

The Harrisonburg and Rockingham Thermal Shelter (HARTS) program starts up its 2008-09 schedule November 17-24, 2008 at Otterbein United Methodist and finishes up March 23-30, 2009 at the Haas House at JMU.  The shelter rotates weekly between 17 generous churches (and one ministry house) who provide shelter and hot meals.  Many offer shower facilities and other amenities.  Some churches do more than one week, some host other congregations, and some partner with others to provide this community service.  Hours of operation are 6:30pm to 7:00am seven days a week.  The HARTS office number is 540/578-3858.  The shelter number is 540/578-3869 during operating hours.  For a full downloadable schedule click here.
